It’s NANO Time!
Having someone there to keep you motivated shouldn’t cost anything, and it doesn’t. We’re taking time out of our lives to make your November a success, and it won’t cost you a penny. Sign up at the bottom of the page.
NaNoWriMo is the biggest collection of budding talent in the writing industry. Why do I say “talent?” Because I personally believe that the current industry has a way of snuffing out great books.
Not that it’s entirely the industry or the Big 6 to blame. Over 200,000 new books are released every year, and that’s a lot of words for a reader to sort through when hunting for a good story.
And NaNo partially contributes to that number. I’m not arguing that.
The problem of too many books also has a corollary in acquisition of talent.
The simple fact is that most people who set out to write a terrific story, even those who could go on to craft legendary words, are often defeated at the gates. Before publishing, before the draft is even done.
Your friends, family, co-workers, enemies, pets, and everyone else in your life can convince you that writing will never do anything for you, even if it is your burning passion. You can lose steam, put down the draft, and never know if you had it in you.
Everyone knows that one book doesn’t lead to a career, but those with persistence, who continue writing because it is their passion, have the ability to craft great books.
The secret weapon of NaNo:
You can finish a first draft. This barrier to entry, the first of many, can be smashed to bits in thirty days or less. Once you’ve done that, something magical happens. You know that you can also do it again, any time you want.
Even if the first, second, third, or fifteenth book flops, you can keep cranking out your passionate words. This is where writers succeed.
Usually the first book doesn’t sell to a publisher. The first published book doesn’t become a bestseller. The first bestseller doesn’t launch a career.
The trick is to keep at it, keep cranking out stories, and keep moving the story forward. Your development as an author begins after the first draft, and we’re here to help you get there. If we inspire even one author to realize their future talent, then we’ve done our job.
That’s what NaNoInspo is all about. Getting your foot through that door.
We’ll be sending out inspirational emails all month during November, and linking to motivational blog posts to keep you going, each written by someone who knows well the sharpest gristle of the writing grinder. You have all of us here backing you up, so you can pick up your pen and get drafting each and every day.
We’ve been there, we know the struggle, and we’re here to help.
In addition, professional editors, cover designers, and other freelancers have teamed up with us to make this the best NaNo year ever for those who sign up. They’ll be offering professional services for NaNo winners, inspirational paperbacks (some signed by the author), and other swag, in addition to the daily inspirational boosts. We’re going to hunt for promotions for the best writing books in the industry this month, and we’ll keep you informed. You’ll even get free access to premium software to help chart your progress.
And the best part is, it’s FREE! Just use the sign-up form at the bottom of the page.
Why would we do this?
Because we believe that the best books are those yet to be written. In all likelihood, one of you will write the next bestselling blockbuster. We believe that people who finish NaNo have something to contribute, and we want to read that book when you finally write it!
I’ve searched far and wide to find the best motivators out there, and people who can help you not only through November, but all along the way in your writing journey. This is about inspiration, education, and motivation.
We are the octane booster for your coffee each morning, and we’ll be here with you till it’s all over.
Our mission statement:
NaNoWriMo can make or break a potential writing career before it’s conceived. Through our effort and inspiration, we can help these writers find a starting point to develop their craft. We can educate them about the work and wonder to follow. And we can help ensure that the future continues to have great books and great writers. A little encouragement goes a long way.

Added Note for Bloggers:
We need inspirational blogs. If you are going to be writing inspirational content in November and would like to be included on our blog roll, here’s what to do:
- Write a killer inspirational post that will help NaNoers through the month. Blogs should probably be less than 1500 (as short as possible) and leave the reader ready to pick up a pen or open their draft document.
- Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and let us know your preferred post date and send the future link to the blog post.
- If the date is available, we’ll include you on the roll. If not, maybe we can reschedule, but we want your inspiration to help give our nanowrimo sign-ups the best chance at finishing NaNo this year.
- Last-minute blog posts will be considered as well, so if you have an inspiring post coming up, written for NaNoers, let us know.

note: only your email address is required, the other information is to verify your nano win and send you prizes (you will be contacted via email if you win). No need to fill it all out now, but if you want to, it makes the process easier for us.
And remember, you don’t have to sign-up to use the Online Writing Log. You can sign up for that here. The stat tracking is WAY better than what the NaNo site provides.
